Training The Next Generation Of Sailors
With success comes the responsibility to give something back to the industry and the people who have helped you progress. Dr Mehrotra has inspired our Group to do exactly this through Foresight Foundation which focuses on creating opportunities and upliftment of the underprivileged. One of our major initiatives – The Amer Maritime Training Academy, trains students in skills they need to have a chance at a career at sea.
Established in 2001, the Amer Maritime Training Academy not only ensures personal development of its students, but also helps create a perpetual legacy, one that will contribute to the economic development of our country.
Located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the family home of Dr Mehrotra’s parents, the academy trains people in the skills they need to become able seafarers, ready to work safely on merchant marine vessels and drilling rig. Over 800 underprivileged students have benefitted from the courses that focus on practical skills and qualifications that trainees need to secure a bright career at sea.
With the addition of newer and newer courses, the academy is not only adding to its own capabilities and capacity, but is also trying to reach a larger audience that can benefit from it.
