Our Founder
The Beginning
Dr Mehrotra began his career as a marine engineer with the Shipping Corporation of India. Through sheer hard work and dedication he rose to the rank of Chief Engineer and was seconded as the Managing Director for the company’s international joint ventures.
It was through these experiences that he earned the international connections that enabled him to realize his ambitions of establishing his own shipping company, the Foresight Group, in 1984.
Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the quality that lends its name to our group, carefully navigating our companies to new opportunities and ensuring the business is equipped with the skills, assets and talent to secure its future for generations to come.
Creating A Legacy
After being at the helm of the Group for more than two decades, he handed over the professional management of the Group to the Chief Executive Officer and took up the role of Executive Chairman.
He is the Chairman of the European India Chamber of Commerce (EICC), headquartered at the European Union in Brussels and has held several honorary positions, including Director of the Commonwealth Business Council. He has also been a board member with the Lloyd’s Register.
Dr Mehrotra holds a key to the City of London, continues to be a member of the visiting faculty of the Cambridge Academy of Transport and is a noted speaker on shipping and business at international conferences.
Awards & Achievements
Recently, in a ceremony at Royal Holloway, University of London, the Chairman was granted an Honorary Degree of the University of London, Doctor of Science Honoris Causa. This is in recognition of his achievements in the shipping industry, as well as his philanthropic work and ongoing support of Royal Holloway.

In 2014, he was awarded the Lloyd’s List Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the Maritime industry.

In 2014, an Honorary Industrial Doctorate from the Aries International Maritime Research Institute in Dubai, UAE, was conferred on him.

In 2006, Dr Mehrotra received his Honorary CBE (Commander of British Empire) from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
