Foresight Group Joins MIT Maritime Consortium to Drive the Future of Shipping
We’re thrilled to announce Foresight Group’s participation in the MIT Maritime Consortium — a global alliance of future-focused maritime organizations working toward decarbonization and digital transformation across the shipping industry. This initiative closely aligns with the IMO 2050 goals, and we’re excited to contribute meaningfully.
In a landmark move aimed at reshaping the future of maritime operations, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has launched the MIT Maritime Consortium — an ambitious new initiative bringing together the best minds in research, industry, and policy to drive innovation in sustainable and intelligent shipping.
Foresight Group is proud to join this pioneering consortium, reinforcing our commitment to creating a more responsible, forward-thinking maritime future. This partnership is a natural extension of Foresight’s sustainability-focused vision. MIT, known for its leadership in technology, engineering, and sustainability research, offers the perfect platform to co-develop breakthrough solutions in areas such as green shipping, decarbonized maritime transport, and future-ready port infrastructure. The consortium’s goals align closely with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) sustainability roadmap — particularly the shared aim of achieving net-zero shipboard emissions through research, innovation, and collaboration.

Joining us in this collaboration are esteemed global leaders such as ABS (American Bureau of Shipping), Marinakis Capital, Dorian LPG — and now, Foresight Shipping.

The MIT Maritime Consortium will tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing maritime transport today — from reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency to accelerating the integration of AI and digital technologies. Backed by MIT’s expertise in data science, engineering, and global policy, and supported by experienced players like Foresight Group, the initiative promises to catalyse real, measurable change in the shipping world.
