Foresight Group entered the hospitality division with Tandoor brand and pioneered the fine dining Indian Restaurant in Shanghai China. The first venue was opened in 1994 in the Jin Jiang Hotel and has been a prime choice for authentic curries and Indian BBQ. We are not only renowned for our cuisine but also for the visually stunning settings and warm ambience.
Closed since 2017 for renovation, the Indian Restaurant in Shanghai reopened in 2019 with brand new interior peppered with inspiration from along the Silk Road between India and China, semi-private dining pavilions with Persian, Chinese, Turkish or Buddhist design elements. There’s also a separate dining room with space for up to ten and a terrace for smoking shisha and sipping drinks.
In collaboration with Hannah Keirl of Spirits Box, a variety of cocktails is served putting Indian garnishes and spices in the spotlight. We take pride in sharing that the Tandoor was given a Bib Gourmand award by the Michelin Guide in 2018. All the chefs are brought in directly from northern India – topped with the service there, the restaurant now offers an Indian fine-dining experience.
The Tandoor has been globally recognized among international restaurants for serving the gourmet meal of Indian culture. We take pride in sharing that we have been awarded the Best Indian Restaurant from Trofeo International De Turismo Y Hosteleria and Best Indian Restaurant from World Quality Commitment International Star Award.
